Terms of use
The ground rules for this website and for working together. Last updated 30 August 2026.
By using this website or booking a service, you agree to what follows. It's written plainly on purpose — if anything is unclear, ask me before booking rather than after.
1. Who you're dealing with
Shoreline Nutrition is a sole practitioner nutrition consulting business operated by Mellissa Wallace, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
2. Nutrition services are not medical services
This is the most important term here, so it comes early.
A Registered Holistic Nutritionist is a nutrition educator. Mellissa Wallace is not a physician, nurse practitioner, pharmacist or Registered Dietitian, and holistic nutrition is not a government-regulated health profession in British Columbia.
Services provided are educational. They do not include, and must not be understood as:
- Diagnosis of any disease, disorder or condition
- Treatment, cure or prevention of any disease, disorder or condition
- Ordering or interpreting medical tests
- Any advice to start, stop, or change a prescribed medication
- A replacement for care from a qualified medical professional
You are responsible for consulting your own physician, nurse practitioner or pharmacist before making any change to your diet, starting any supplement, or acting on anything discussed. Always do so if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking any medication, or living with any diagnosed condition.
In an emergency, call 911. For non-emergency health advice in BC, call 811 for HealthLink BC.
3. Website content
Everything published here — guides, articles and general information — is for education only. It is general in nature, cannot account for your individual circumstances, and does not create a practitioner–client relationship. That relationship begins only when you book and I accept a paid service.
4. Booking, fees and payment
Current fees are shown on the services page and are in Canadian dollars. Fees may change, but never for a service already booked and confirmed.
Consultations are payable at or before the session unless agreed otherwise. The comprehensive assessment is invoiced after I have reviewed your intake and confirmed I can help — submitting an intake creates no obligation to pay and no obligation on my part to accept.
5. Cancellations and missed appointments
- 24 hours' notice or more: reschedule or refund in full, no charge.
- Less than 24 hours: 50% of the session fee.
- No show: full session fee.
- Genuine emergencies and sudden illness: talk to me. I'm a person, not a policy.
If I have to cancel, you'll be offered the next available time or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
6. Refunds on services
Sessions already delivered are not refundable, since the time and preparation have been spent. If you've paid for a package or program and want to stop partway through, unused sessions are refunded in full. If you are genuinely unhappy with a service, tell me — I would much rather sort it out than have you quietly walk away.
7. The client area and product requests
Access to the client area is provided at my discretion to current clients and may be withdrawn if the account is misused or shared. Accounts are personal to you.
Submitting a product request through the client area is a request, not a purchase. No contract is formed and nothing is charged until I confirm the request and you pay the invoice I send. I may decline any request, including where I don't think a product is appropriate for you. Ordering terms are in ordering, shipping & returns.
8. Your responsibilities
You agree to give accurate and complete information, particularly about medications, health conditions and pregnancy, and to tell me if any of it changes. Advice built on incomplete information may not be appropriate for you, and I can only work with what you tell me.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this site, and any written plan prepared for you, belongs to Shoreline Nutrition. Your personal plan is for your own use — you're welcome to share it with your doctor. Please don't republish or resell site content without permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shoreline Nutrition's total liability arising from any service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing here affects your rights under the BC Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction.
12. Changes
These terms may change. The version in force is the one published when you book. Material changes affecting existing clients will be sent by email.
